Court of Appeal Affirms Bursor & Fisher's $40 Million Trial Victory

On April 25, 2012, the California Court of Appeal affirmed a $40 million judgment Bursor & Fisher obtained on behalf of a class of 150,000 purchasers of the Avacor hair regrowth system against Anthony Imbriolo, the creator of Avacor and the founder of the company that marketed and sold the product.

"We are pleased that the Court of Appeal affirmed the $40 million judgment we obtained for the class," said Scott A. Bursor, the lead trial counsel in the case. "The judgment was the result of more than seven years of hard work on behalf of the class, and this victory is an important step in our efforts to obtain justice for those who were victimized by the Avacor scam."

Mr. Bursor filed the Avacor case in 2003 in the Alameda County Superior Court. In January 2008, following a four week trial, the jury returned a $37 million verdict for the class against Imbriolo. In May 2008, Judge Robert Freedman issued a statement of decision that increased the award to $40 million. The Court of Appeal's decision is available here.
