$267 Million Jury Award Against Robocaller
Today, a federal judge in Oakland entered a $267 million judgment in a class action against debt collector Rash Curtis & Associates. The judgment followed a May 2019 jury verdict finding Rash Curtis had made more than 532,000 auto-dialed calls in violation of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act.
“Our clients are quite happy with the jury’s verdict, obviously,” said Scott A. Bursor of Bursor & Fisher, P.A., who served as lead trial counsel for the class. “We were awarded 100% of the relief we sought.” The trial victory also extended Bursor & Fisher’s record of winning every class action trial it has done. “For our law firm, this wasn’t the largest verdict we’ve won, but it’s close. It’s our 6th win in 6 class action jury trials.”
